Tracks

How tracks are created, named and displayed

CuePoints > Settings… > Tracks

This pane controls how tracks are numbered, played back, and switched between. It's a short one, four settings.

Default Frame Rate For New Tracks

The frame rate a new track starts with, 30 FPS unless you change it.

Frame rate is how timecode counts. If your show runs at 25 fps and CuePoints is counting at 30 fps, every timecode number you read will be wrong. Set this to the rate your show actually runs at and you'll never have to think about it again.

This is only the starting value. Changing it doesn't touch tracks you already made.

Display Track Numbering

How track names are written in the track list.

  • '1.' Track Name: the number and the name together.

  • The other options show the name on its own, or the number on its own.

Pick whichever your team calls tracks by. If your paperwork says "Track 4", keep the numbers on.

Skip To Start When Changing Tracks

When you switch to another track, this decides where the playhead lands.

  • On: you always land at the very beginning of the new track.

  • Off: you land at the same time position you were at on the old track.

On suits most shows. Off is useful when several tracks are different mixes of the same piece and you want to jump between them without losing your place.

CuePoint Type Visibility

Which cue types you've hidden or shown, and whether that choice is remembered per track or for the whole project.

  • Store Visibilities Per Track: each track remembers its own choice. Hide the Sound cues on the video track and they stay hidden there, while the audio track keeps showing them.

  • The other option applies one set of hidden/shown types everywhere.

Store Visibilities Per Track is right for most shows, because different tracks usually belong to different departments.
